What is the maximum length of an SMS?

When using long messages, there are 7 characters per SMS that are used to connect the SMS technically to each other.

• 1 SMS : 160 characters
• Long message of 2 SMS : 306 characters (2 x 153 characters)
• Long message of 3 SMS : 459 characters (3 x 153 characters)
• Long message of 4 SMS : 612 characters (4 x 153 characters)
• Long message of 5 SMS : 765 characters (5 x 153 characters)

Once you exceed the 160 character limit, messages are split in 153 character parts, up to 10. This means you can have a message of up to 1530 characters. That kind of message will cost you the price of 2, 3, 4 ... short messages, depending on the length of your message.
Please be aware that some characters (see "Set Extension" here below on the right) will count for 2 characters.

IMPORTANT: Unicode messages contain a maximum of 70 characters per part, with 3 characters needed to connect multiple SMS.

• 1 SMS : 70 characters
• Long message of 2 SMS : 134 characters (2 x 67 characters)
• Long message of 3 SMS : 201 characters (3 x 67 characters)
• Long message of 4 SMS : 268 characters (4 x 67 characters)
• Long message of 5 SMS : 335 characters (5 x 67 characters)
